FAQs
Classes
What kind of equipment do I need for the classes?
All you need is a camera with a manual mode, an SD card and laptop. Your camera doesn’t need to be fancy, you just need to be able to switch the settings to learn how to change ISO, aperture and shutter speed to achieve the best results for your style of photography. We’ll spend some time during the photography 101 class getting used to camera functionality and learning which settings are best for which scenario.
What can I expect to learn in your photography classes?
That depends on the class taken. If there is something that you can’t see in the curriculum for each course, you can let me know or we can schedule a separate session to discuss. All of the 1-on-1 photography classes are tailored to your specific needs and how you’d like to develop (pun intended) as a photographer. The initial session of the individual classes will be an exploration of your current portfolio, shooting practices, desired outcomes and suggested lesson plan.
Can I take the classes online or do I need to attend in person?
If you’re based in Hong Kong you can take the classes in person, otherwise we can schedule online classes to work through the topics. In this case, there will be some assignments set to ensure that you have photographic material to use in the editing sessions. Please note that online classes may have limitations depending on time zone.
How do I sign up for a photography class, and what is the enrolment process?
You can book the classes through the appointment pages. I’ll be in touch shortly after to confirm your attendance.
Can I get feedback on my photography before the class starts?
For the 1 on 1 classes the feedback process is integrated into the first class. We’ll take a look at your photos together and discuss your thought process and mindset when taking them. I’ll then put together a tailored plan based on your desired outcomes for your photography, whether it’s just getting better snaps on holiday or turning photography into a career.
How do I prepare for my first class?
Prepare a set of photos you’d like to talk through. Otherwise, just ensure that your gear is working and that you have an SD card you can use for the classes. If you have Lightroom and Photoshop installed on your computer already then great, if not, please download them for the editing classes. The mobile version of Lightroom also offers good functionality for editing and has some similarities with the desktop version - if you’d like to use that it shouldn’t be an issue.
Prints
Do you offer custom prints?
Absolutely. If you’ve seen a photograph online and you’d like a custom print you can request it (including custom sizing, frame and finish) by filling out the contact form here.
What kind of material/finish do you use for your prints?
Standard prints use a high-quality archival matte finish. This means that the paper is coarse, not glossy, offering a great viewing experience when put under bright lights. This way the prints can be put behind glass with minimal glare and look beautiful from a variety of angles, no matter where you place them in your home.
What sizing options are available for your prints?
Standard sizing is from A5 to A1. Larger prints (A0 and custom) are available upon request.
Are your prints limited edition?
Yes. There are a limited set of each image. When the run has been completed the images will be retired and a new one will be posted.
